Flood Insurance
Flood Insurance Information
There's something you should know: Flood losses are not covered by your homeowners insurance policy.
If you live in Florida you live in a flood zone. Don't get caught without flood insurance. Floodwaters have the power to damage not only your home and sense of security, but also your financial future. Did you know that your current homeowners insurance policy does NOT cover flood, surface waters, waves, tidalwater, overflow of a body of water or spray, rising water or wind driven water from storms? Did you also know 25% of ALL flood claims are from individuals in low risk preferred zones?
How can you protect your most important investment in case of flooding?
Flood insurance is a special policy that is federally backed by the National Flood Insurance Program and available for homeowners, renters and businesses. The standard flood insurance policy pays for direct physical damage to the insured property up to the replacement cost or actual cash value of actual damages or the policy limit of liability, whichever is less.
Homeowners may purchase flood insurance covering up to $250,000 for flood damage for the physical home. A standard flood policy will cover structural damage, including damage to the furnace, water heater, air conditioner, floor surfaces (carpeting and tile) and debris clean-up. The contents of a home are not covered under a standard policy, but for an additional premium, homeowners may also purchase flood coverage for up to $100,000 of damage to personal property.
